Kurt Pijahn Handels” GmbH is a German company established 50 years ago. In recent days it succeeded to become one of the leaders in large scale fruits trade and their sub products on the Western European markets. It is also a major supplier to some of the largest food production companies in Europe. It has decided at the late 90ies to expand business lines and has decided to pursue also own production of the traded processed fruits. After careful strategically considerations it chose Bulgaria and Poland for its production facilities.

The Bulgarian plant was established in 2002 in the village of Kalugerovo. The factory was constructed and adjusted to the meet all current European standards. It produces fruit concentrates, jams and pastes. Currently its volume of production is between 3000 and 4000 tons. The maximum capacity of the factory is around 30 tons per day.

The company owns 6360 m2 of production plots, as well as around 2300 m2 production and auxiliary facilities. It is HACCP and ISO 9001:2000 certified. All buildings, machines and equipment are in good condition and do not need any further investments.

The company has succeeded to build a good reputation in the production of quality products. Some of the biggest food producers in Bulgaria and Europe use the products of the factory. The mother company „Kurt Pijahn Handels” GmbH, Germany, is one of the leading traders of processed fruits in Europe, and is a supplier to some of the largest multinational food producers.

Currently the company produces and exports the majority of its production to the mother company - „Kurt Pijahn Handels” GmbH, Germany (between 60 and 70% of total volume) Other major clients are “Best Foods”, “Pobeda”, and others.

Main Products

Group 1: Fruit concentrates
The fruits concentrates include purees, messes, jams, plum mousse, etc.
Production capacity – 30 tones per day Currently from this product line are produced around 1500 t / year.

Group 2: Jams
Industrial jams are used in confectionary and bakery industry, in the production of croissants, cake bars, sweet roles, sweets and others.

Group 3: Fruit pastes
Fruit pastes are used in producing fruit yoghurts, ice cream, etc.
The company’s own analysis of the market shows significant increasing demand in the near future. Kalufruct is the only company in Bulgaria producing fruit pastes in this volume and quality.

* The current major client of Kalufruct has expressed its interest in entering into a contract with the future acquirer of the company to purchase around 1500 tons per year of the production, in order to meet its internal needs.
